Based on the Unified Numbering System material N05500, the US Federal Material Specification of QQ-N-286 is a hardenable, high strength, corrosion resistant nickel-based alloy widely used in naval and subsea applications.

The world-leading material excels in performing to an extreme standard in demanding environments. In marine defence environments, QQ-N-286 is commonly used on submarine bodies, fasteners, bolting, pumps, valves, connectors and penetrators.

Copper Alloys can form its wrought nickel-copper aluminium alloy QQ-N-286-G material into a number of different formats from rods to bars and rings to plates. Understanding the different exacting requirements of a project, the team of expert metallurgists can alter the properties to suit different metals used in different end environments.

Typically created with the nominal composition of NiCu30Al, QQ-N-286 is a wrought copper-nickel which outperforms many other Federal Specifications.

Why choose Copper Alloys?

Industry leading six-month lead time.

Thorough testing process.

NNS approval for submarine forgings.

General Dynamics, Electric Boat approved.

Experience working with global navies.

What is federal specification QQ-N-286-F?

The -F in QQ-N-286-F refers to an older version of a federal specification. Referring to a previous version, the newer -G specifications will feature a different range of characteristics.

What is federal specification QQ-N-286-G?

This -G version of QQ-N-286 is the most up-to-date revision. Active as of December 2000, the G version of QQ-N-286 requires a slow strain rate test to measure the tensile strength.
