A continuous cast tin bronze similar to PB1 but with the addition of up to 0.75% Pb which aids machinability and bearing properties. The alloy conforms to BS1400 PB4 CuSn10PbP and is generally used for medium duty gears with adequate lubrication and alignment. For bearing applications it can tolerate high working loads, high speed and impact loading but again requires good lubrication.
