This is a US Federal Material Specification based upon the UNS (Unified Numbering System) N05500. QQ-N-286 is a precipitation hardenable, high strength, corrosion resistant nickel alloy widely used in naval applications.
Available in a wide range of formats, conditions and tempers, properties can be modified to suit specific applications and environments. Typical formats include rod, bars, rings, discs, forgings, blocks, plate, sheet and customised shapes.
Cold drawn formats are also available.
If you’re looking for a higher-spec alloy with longer-lasting performance and durability, consider CNC-1® or T-1000.
The wrought nickel-copper aluminium created by Copper Alloys has additions of iron, manganese and titanium which helps to produce a range of various properties from increased strength to corrosion resistance.
This Nickel Copper Alloy has exceptional corrosion resistance, including saltwater corrosion resistance and notable resistance to steam at high temperatures.
QQ-N-286 is also resistant to corrosion in hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid in non-aerated conditions, emphasising its durability in demanding environments.
This unrivalled resistance to corrosion, high quality strength capacity and good weldability for use in components of all sizes makes our nickel-copper alloy a metal capable of high performance and reliability in a variety of environments and circumstances.
What are usage examples of QQ-N-286 Rev. F & G?
Due to the corrosion-resistant nature of the metal, it can be applied in a variety of environments and industries such as:

Due to the high corrosion-resistance of QQ N 286, it is perfect for a variety of uses in the marine and naval industries, oil and gas (such as offshore platforms and drilling equipment), aerospace industry and chemical processing industry.
Rev F refers to an older version of a federal specification. It is designed for components that must be solution annealed at 2050°F because of the presence of titanium carbide. Rev G is produced to pass the slow strain rate tensile test. It is best suited for applications where intergranular cracking is not an option.
Copper Alloys has the ability to modify existing alloys for improved performance. Many customers have benefited from this in the past.
