AMS4881 Overview

A cast American nickel-aluminium bronze with the unique combined properties of very high strength, good fatigue, excellent corrosion resistance and wear properties, which makes AMS 4881 a popular choice for aerospace applications.

AMS 4881 has very high anti-galling properties when running against most grades of steels and is used universally for aerospace landing gear bushes and bearings where its strength, fatigue, wear properties, shock resistance and corrosion resistance are well proven over many decades.

This is one of the highest strength aluminium bronzes available and is a realistic alternative to copper beryllium for high load applications. AMS 4881 is Beryllium-free so there are no environmental or health and safety issues associated with its use.

This specification allows for sand castings, centrifugal and continuous casting, with continuous casting presenting the optimal combination of reliability, quality and efficiency.
