NA18 (BS3076:1989) Overview

This is a wrought British Standard Material Specification based upon the nominal composition CuNi30 (UNS N04400). NA18 is a precipitation hardenable, high strength, corrosion resistant nickel alloy widely used in naval and marine applications.

Available in a wide range of formats, conditions and tempers, properties can be modified to suit specific applications and environments. Typical formats include rod, bars, rings, discs, forgings, blocks, plate, sheet and customised shapes.

Cold drawn formats are also available.

Key features of NA18 (BS3076:1989)

A nickel-copper alloy with additions of iron, manganese, aluminium and titanium, which can be precipitation-hardened to produce a range of properties.

The alloy has excellent corrosion-resistance, very high strength and has good weldability. Nickel K500 has low corrosion rates in seawater and brackish flowing waters.

Resistant to corrosion in hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acid in non-aerated conditions.

Applications of NA18 (BS3076:1989)

Due to its exceptional strength and hardness, good corrosion resistance and very low magnetic permeability, NA18 is perfect for components used in the defence sector, such as:

Fasteners and specialty bolting, pumps and valve components, shafts, penetrators and connectors.
