The all-time classic nickel-aluminium bronze with 10% aluminium and 5% of nickel and iron. The alloy conforms to BS 1400 AB2 CuAl10Fe5Ni5 and BS EN 1982-2008 CC333G CuAl10Fe5Ni5-C. The alloy has excellent wear and anti-galling properties when running against stainless steels and most other grades of nickel and iron based alloys. It has also excellent corrosion/erosion/impingement resistance in flowing sea water up to 4.5m/sec and can used for boiler water handling systems. The alloy can tolerate high loads but is generally restricted to slow moving parts with good lubrication.

AB2 is a multiphase cast nickel-aluminium bronze. Historically this material has been widely used on a vast array of marine applications. The now obsolete AB2 has initially been superseded by wrought nickel-aluminium bronze (Def Stan 02-833) and more recently wrought copper-nickel chrome (CAL CNC-1). Roughly equivalent grades include Def Stan 02 747 Part 1, NES 747 Part 1, NES 747 Part 2, NES 747 Part 3, ASTM B505 C95500, ASTM B148 C95500, ASTM B271 C95500, SAE J461, AMS 4870C, UNI 5275, AMS4880, AS1565 C95500 HT, BS EN 1982-2008 GC CC333G, DIN1714 GC CuAl10Ni 2,0975.04
